Android users in India now have the opportunity to experience Photoshop directly on their mobile devices, as Adobe has released the beta version of its mobile editing app for Android. This follows the earlier launch of the iPhone version, which went live four months ago.
The Android app brings many of the key features familiar to desktop users, such as layers, masks, and advanced editing tools—customized for smaller screens. During this initial beta phase, the app is available to use for free.
Key features include the ability to merge and enhance images with tools like selections, layering, and masking. Adobe’s AI-based “Generative Fill” tool allows users to add or modify elements within images, while the “Tap Select” feature simplifies object removal or replacement. Users also gain access to a collection of Adobe Stock assets and can fine-tune their edits using blend modes, adjustment layers, and other advanced tools.
Additional editing tools include the Spot Healing Brush for removing imperfections, as well as the Remove and Clone Stamp tools. More precise editing is possible with features like Object Select and Magic Wand.
Adobe says it will continue expanding the app’s capabilities in future updates. By making Photoshop available on mobile, the company aims to appeal to younger and more mobile-centric audiences who use their smartphones as primary creative devices. It also serves existing Photoshop users who want greater flexibility to edit on the go.
The Android version is currently compatible with devices running Android 11 or newer, and requires at least 6GB of RAM. For the best experience, Adobe recommends devices with 8GB RAM or more.
Unlike the iOS version, which launched with both free and premium features and offers integration with Photoshop on the web, the Android version currently only supports the free beta. Adobe has yet to confirm when additional features or cross-platform integration will become available on Android.
