Spotify is going to add a new feature to its app. A bell icon on the home interface of the app will give you a notification about the new releases from your favourite artists. The bell icon symbolizes the What’s New panel and when a band or musician releases a new song it will show there.

The new feature will be updated every time and users can easily know whether there is a new release by looking at the blue dot on top of the bell icon. The blue dot signifies new releases. Spotify plans to release the new feature to both Android and iOS users in the coming weeks.

This may sound similar to Spotify’s existing feature- Release Radar playlist. This feature also takes you to new content but the way it will be done in ‘What’s New’ will be different. What’s New will have a dedicated interface element. Release Radar playlist uses both human curation ad software to bring out the songs that you may like to listen to from a new album, EP, or single. What’s New leaves out curation and brings in comprehensiveness. But the Release Radar playlist was easy to be added to one’s Spotify library.
