Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra to feature Exynos 2200 chip

Samsung looks to take down iPad Pro with the new Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra to feature Exynos 2200 chip

Samsung has remained committed to releasing tablets across all market segments even though the tablet market is highly unstable. Samsung has begun expanding its high-end tablet line to include more size options and settings, possibly as a result of the success of the iPad Pro range. The company may push it even further next year with the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, which blurs the line between tablet and laptop.

To some extent, Samsung may be expecting Apple’s possible release of a larger iPad Pro. Only 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models are now available, with which Samsung competed by releasing the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ last year. There are reports that a larger 14.6-inch tablet with the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra brand will be released.

It will not only be larger but also possibly more powerful than any tablet Samsung has ever produced. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will feature the forthcoming Exynos 2200 with AMD graphics, according to a post on the Korean forum Clien. In contrast, the Galaxy Tab S8 and S8+ may only get the Snapdragon 895.

This would theoretically bring the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra on par with the M1 iPad Pro. Because it uses the same processor as M1 Macs, the latter is already considered a hybrid laptop. It’s unclear whether the Exynos 2200 will match the Apple M1’s performance, but recent benchmarks show that it outperforms the Apple A14 Bionic.

Other reported Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra specifications include 12GB of RAM and at least 256GB of expandable storage. The slate is also rumoured to come with an 11,500 mAh battery, making it the highest capacity Samsung tablet to date. Next year, the Galaxy Tab S8 line could be unveiled alongside the Galaxy S22.
