Flipkart Video introduces interactive web series

The Walmart-owned Flipkart had launched its in-app video platform Flipkart Video in 2019. Flipkart Video in an attempt to gain an audience is planning to combine interactivity and gamification to bring in interesting content.

The technology will be put to use in the second season of its investigative drama, Crime Series. The series will look to capture an audience by using interactive features. The audience will get to make decisions for the cast on screen. And the story will move forward with their decisions. Sounds interesting, right?

This interactivity will be enabled by using the ‘branching video’ technology. This feature is what enables the audience to choose between different storylines. So, for every episode, there will be different possibilities through which the story will move forward. Senior director and head of content at Flipkart Video Aloka Guha said the new technology will give the users a new experience. He added that the feature has been added after realizing that the consumers have “a growing fascination in taking more ‘control’ of the content they consume.”

The new episode of the series is released daily and is now available on the Flipkart App. The ‘Video’ icon on the homepage of the app will take you to the Flipkart Video page.
