Facebook has joined in the celebration of the Tokyo Olympics. With the Tokyo Olympics going on from July 23rd, Facebook has added certain new features to its platform. These include a Games hub, AR highlights for stories, and video highlights. This will keep its users engaged with the event in Tokyo.

The Games hub will have highlights, details on the events, athletes, and teams. It will have additional information on the history of the event. You can follow the hub to get more details of the events. The posts about the Games from your friends will automatically be highlighted. The #Olympics and #Tokyo2020 will take you to the Games hub.

Instagram has also added two new AR effects which will be available on the effects tab of @Tokyo2020 and @Olympics accounts. Instagram adds that in one of the AR features, users can imitate the movements of the Olympics mascot to earn points. Although not up to the mark, the effects satisfy the purpose of engaging the users with the Olympic games.

On WhatsApp, a new chatbot has been created exclusively for getting details on the schedule of the events, news, and rankings. It also has official stickers and quizzes on the events to attract more users to the games. They have also started hosting video highlights and people in India can view these on the official Olympics Facebook page.

There is still uncertainty on whether the Olympics Games will be held without any possible call-offs. But Facebook has tried its best in creating more interest in people with their new features.
