Elon Musk’s Neuralink raises funds worth $200 million from Google Ventures

Neuralink founded by Elon Musk has recently raised $205 million in a funding round led by Vy Capital based in Dubai and Alphabet’s Google Ventures. Neuralink provides solutions to cure neurological conditions by implantation of wireless brain-computer chips. Neurological conditions like Alzheimer’s, dementia, and spinal cord injuries can be cured by such implantation. They aim to connect “humankind with artificial intelligence” as reported by Economic Times

Elon Musk had earlier tweeted that “the device is implanted flush with skull and charges wirelessly, so you look and feel totally normal,”.

Neuralink was founded in 2016 and is based in San Francisco. The amount raised will be utilized by the company to take N1 Link, the company’s first product to the market and for its research and development. The funding round was joined by Valor Equity Partners, Craft Ventures, and Founders Fund.

Musk’s private space company SpaceX had earlier raised $1.16 billion in equity financing. Neuralink is one of Musk’s various attempts of combining diverse experts to develop the technology. Tesla Inc., SpaceX, and The Boring Co. are some of Musk’s other projects.
