Fans of classic real-time strategy games have a reason to celebrate! Tempest Rising, a much-anticipated RTS title being hailed as a spiritual successor to the iconic Command & Conquer series, is now officially available a full week ahead of schedule.
Originally set to launch on April 24, the game was unexpectedly made available to players who had pre-ordered it starting April 17. Instead of reversing the early access, the developers made the bold move to release it early for everyone.
Built through a collaboration between Slipgate Ironworks (Denmark) and 2B Games (Poland), Tempest Rising is designed as a love letter to the golden era of RTS games from the 1990s and 2000s.
The game unfolds in an alternate modern-day setting, where a global conflict brews over control of mysterious energy-rich plants called “Tempest vines” that are rapidly spreading across the planet.
Players can step into the boots of a Commander for one of two main factions:
- Global Defense Forces (GDF): A technologically advanced, fast-moving peacekeeping force.
- Tempest Dynasty: A gritty, high-impact faction fighting out of desperation.
A third faction is also included for multiplayer mode, promising even more variety in strategies and gameplay styles.
Each faction offers distinct combat mechanics and mission customization, with two full campaigns featuring 11 missions each, designed to challenge players with tactical depth and variety.
Gamers who purchase before April 24 can still snag the “Commander Pack”, which includes exclusive bonus content. And since early access was originally a perk reserved for Deluxe Edition pre-orders, the devs have announced they’ll be offering additional in-game rewards to Deluxe buyers soon, as a gesture of goodwill.
With India’s rapidly growing PC gaming community and a strong nostalgia for classic strategy games, Tempest Rising could hit the sweet spot for veteran RTS lovers and new players alike.
Whether you’re a longtime Command & Conquer fan or just getting into strategy games, this title offers the kind of tactical warfare, base-building, and strategic planning that defined an entire genre.
