After the unveiling of Tata Tigor Ev last week, the vehicle has been launched in India. It is the second electric vehicle from Tata after its Nexon EV. Tigor EV is claimed to be the cheapest EV in India. The vehicle is available in three models- XE, XM, and XZ+. The option to choose a dual-tone colour is provided only on the high-end variant. The vehicle has been awarded with a 4-star rating by the Global New Car Assessment Programme (GNCAP). The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has tested the vehicle and has validated the 306km range claimed by the company.
Tata Tigor EV will cost Rs. 11.99 lakhs in the Indian market for the XE model. It is the base model. The XM model will be priced at Rs. 12.49 lakhs. For the XZ+ model, customers will have to pay Rs. 12.99 lakhs. Buyers who opt for the dual-tone variant of XZ+ will have to pay Rs. 13.14 lakhs. The vehicle is offered in two colour options- Signature Teal Blue and Daytona Grey. The company also offers an 8 year and 160,000 kilometers battery and motor warranty. Bookings for the vehicle has been started. It can be done either through the company’s online portal or from their showrooms.
Tata Tigor EV will have a 26kWh liquid-cooled battery that promises 55kW of power and 170Nm of torque. The battery is IP67-rated for weatherproof. To support fast charging Tata has installed its high voltage architecture called ZipTron on the EV. Due to this, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in almost 60 minutes. The 306km range has been certified by ARAI. The company has also made some changes in its design to differentiate it from the internal combustion engine (ICE) powered Tigor. The radiator grille of the ICE Tigor is replaced with a Gloss Black panel with Electric Blue accents. The blue accents are provided inside the headlights and on the new 15-inch alloy wheels as well. The foglamp module houses LED daytime running lamps (DRLs).
On the inside there is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also has an iRA connected car technology. For audio, it has a 4 speaker and 4 tweeter setup provided by Harman. The vehicle houses automatic climate control and a digital instrument cluster. The safety features on the vehicle include dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), rear parking camera that has sensors, and seat belt reminders for the front seats. Tata has added hill ascent and hill descent assists on the vehicle. Tata Motors ZConnect app can monitor 35 smart connected features on the Tata Tigor EV. This is thanks to the help of iRA technology. These features belong to a range of categories from Safety and Security to Trips analytics & driver behaviour score.
