Nvidia is developing a new artificial intelligence chip for the Chinese market, designed on its latest Blackwell architecture, and expected to be more powerful than the H20 model currently approved for sale in the country, according to people familiar with the matter.

The chip, tentatively named B30A, will reportedly feature a single-die design, offering around half the raw computing power of Nvidia’s flagship dual-die B300 accelerator card. Unlike multiple-die chips, a single-die design integrates all core components on one continuous silicon piece.

Similar to the H20, the new processor will include high-bandwidth memory and NVLink technology for fast data transfer between processors. While the final specifications are still being worked out, Nvidia aims to deliver test samples to Chinese clients as early as next month.

This development comes shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of allowing more advanced Nvidia chips to be sold in China. However, regulatory approval remains uncertain due to ongoing concerns in Washington about granting China greater access to cutting-edge U.S. AI technology.

In a statement, Nvidia said: “We evaluate a variety of products for our roadmap, so that we can be prepared to compete to the extent that governments allow. Everything we offer has full approval from the relevant authorities and is designed solely for beneficial commercial use.”

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick noted that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has been actively engaging with the administration about the potential chip, emphasizing that such efforts were expected given Nvidia’s global influence.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has not yet commented on the matter.
