Motorola has officially entered the side-foldable smartphone segment with the announcement of its first book-style foldable device, marking a major shift in the brand’s foldable strategy. With this launch, Motorola joins competitors such as Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, signaling intensifying competition in the premium foldable market.

The new device, tentatively referred to as the Razr Fold, features a large 6.6-inch outer display and an expansive 8.1-inch flexible inner screen, positioning it as a phone-tablet hybrid aimed at productivity and media consumption. While Motorola has not yet revealed the exact dimensions or thickness, the screen sizes suggest a strong focus on multitasking and immersive usage.

One of the standout features is support for the Moto Pen Ultra stylus. This is particularly notable because Samsung has removed stylus support from its latest Galaxy Z Fold 7. For users who rely on note-taking, sketching, or precise navigation especially professionals and enterprise users in markets like India stylus compatibility adds significant value.

On the camera front, Motorola has equipped the foldable with an advanced multi-lens setup. The device includes a 50MP primary Sony sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens that also supports macro photography, and a 50MP telephoto camera. For selfies and video calls, users get a 32MP camera on the outer display and a 20MP camera inside. The phone also supports Dolby Vision video recording, which should appeal to content creators and video enthusiasts.

The Razr Fold will be available in blue and white colour options. However, Motorola has not yet disclosed details about the processor, battery capacity, pricing, or market availability. The company has confirmed that additional specifications will be announced in the coming months.

While this is Motorola’s first side-folding smartphone, foldable phones are not new territory for the brand. Motorola has long been associated with flip-style foldable and continues to refine that form factor through its Razr series, which has seen success in the mid-range segment. This new launch reflects Motorola’s ambition to move beyond flip phones and compete directly in the premium foldable category, a move that could be particularly impactful in India as interest in foldable smartphones continues to grow.
