Kanye West is making his next album launch more interesting with the release of a music gadget called the Donda Stem Player. The website of the device states that the gadget can “customize any song”. Pre-orders for the gadget have started and can be made for $200. Although an exact release date hasn’t been provided, the website hints that it will be shipped along with West’s new album, Donda.
Donda Stem Player looks like a little tan puck and is developed in collaboration with electronics company Kano and West’s Yeezy Tech brand. The device features a soft silicone body. It has a headphone jack, Bluetooth support, a USB-C port, volume buttons, speakers, a haptic engine, and 8GB of storage. The light bars are present are supposed to be touch-sensitive and allows the users to customize songs. The supported music formats include .AIFF, .AIF, .FLAC, .M4A, .MP3, .WAV, .WAVE, .AAC, .ALAC, and .MP4.(The Verge)
The device’s website gives many details on the Donda Stem Player. It says users will have controls to volume, drums, bass, and also to isolate parts and add effects. It will also enable users to split songs into stems. The following tools are expected to feature in the gadget- 4-channel lossless audio mixing, real-time loop and speed control, tactile effects, one hits, live samples, save, playback, and share mixes, customize colors, and content and software updates from your browser.
Videos that show the gadget in action make us feel like music production will be easier with the device. But it still needs to be verified by a professional.
