Transportation company Hyperloop One planning to hold an event in India next year, to start talks with government and businesses. After Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT), it is the turn of rival Hyperloop One to eye the Indian market. Hyperloop One Global Challenge has received the highest number of proposals from India and will hold an event here in early 2017 as it consider India as a market of significant interest. It would also look to open discussions with Indian government and businesses, at the sidelines of the event.
“We received a number of high quality entries from Indian teams.We are now in the process of evaluating the proposals submitted from India and elsewhere. We are going hold an event in India in early 2017,” said Alan James, vice-president, worldwide business development – passengersystems, Hyperloop One.”India is a market of significant interest to Hyperloop One, given the pressing imperative to upgrade India’s freight and passenger transport infrastructure so that it is `fit for purpose’ as India cements its position as one of the 21st Century’s powerhouse economies,” said James.
He further informed that Hyperloop One would certainly look forward to discussions with the Indian government. “We would look to open those discussions around event in India in 2017,” said James. The Hyperloop -high-speed travel in pods inside a partial vacuum tube -is the brainchild of Tesla founder Elon Musk, who open-sourced the basic design in 2013 in the form of a white paper.Since then, two companies -Hyperloop Transportation Technologies and Hyperloop One have taken the lead in building this technology.
