HTC has launched Desire 816G in India at a price of Rs 18,990. This is the successor to the original Desire 816, that was launched six months ago and was priced at Rs 24,999. The specifications of Desire 816G are not much different from the original one, except the processor and RAM. The original Desire 816 was powered by a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and on the other hand, the new Desire 816G is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor. The RAM is trimmed down from 1.5GB to 1GB.
Other specifications include a 5.5-inch 720p display, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,600mAh battery. The Desire 816G runs on 4.4.2 KitKat wrapped under HTC Sense UI. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth and GPS/AGPS. The smartphone will go on sale in early October.
