Google will modify Play Store ratings according to location

Play Store gives ratings to all the apps on its system to make it easier for people to decide on whether to download a certain app on their device. The ratings depend on many things. iOS users also get ratings for apps on the App Store. To make it more useful, Google is coming with two new updates for the Play Store.

Google is employing the location criteria to the rating starting November. The ratings an individual will see will be based on where that person lives. It means that the ratings a person sees will depend on how other users of the same location found the app. Google is planning on another update by next year that will modify the app ratings according to the device of the user. So, apps that will work well on the device that the user has will get a higher rating than the others. The company says that this feature will allow users to get a better knowledge of the performance of an app on their device.

The new updates planned by Google will not only help its general users but also app developers. Situations in which ratings of the app in one area affecting the global impression will thus decrease. It will help in cases where the localized version of the software gets affected by bugs. The users can also come to know of the bugs before they download the app.
