Google Meet updates its personal call section

In a recent update of the widely used online meeting platform Google Meet, the app adds new features to make the platform more engaging. The new features include filters, augmented reality masks and other effects. Google had tweeted recently that now one can “add cats, astronauts, jellyfish and more to your Meet calls”.

This will currently be available only to personal calls on both iOS and Android. Don’t think it’s weird if you feel that you have seen the filters before. This is because the filters are by and large borrowed from its own alternate app Duo. Discussions on replacing Duo had been circulating for some time now, but we are not sure whether to see this as the first step of that process.

Meet has also updated their live stream section with options to add captions, raise hands and to shift to the main grid.
