Google’s Pixel phones are becoming popular day by day. As more people began to use it, the company is planning to use its own processors in the phone. The phones were run on Qualcomm’s processors till now. Alphabet’s Google has decided to use their in-house processors for the Pixel phones which are to be launched shortly. Qualcomm has been powering Google’s Android devices for a long period of 15 years.

The newly developed processor will be called Tensor and will be used in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones as stated in Google’s blog post. The company will provide more information as the launch becomes closer.

Following this announcement, it was seen that the shares of Qualcomm experiencing a decrease. Qualcomm is now the world’s largest producer of wireless chips to be used in smartphones. Google added that the Pixel 5a, which is the company’s next smartphone launch, will run on a Qualcomm processor. 

A Qualcomm spokesperson clarified to Gadgets360 that they will associate with Google in improving and making new products based on Snapdragon platforms. 

A similar step was taken by Apple last year when the company decided to make its own processor discarding the Intel chips which were used till then.
