Fortnite has upgraded two of its Venom-inspired melee weapons, the Symbiote Scythe and Symbiote Slasher, enhancing their usability across all player skins. These weapons, originally introduced in Chapter 2, were previously locked to Venom and Eddie Brock skins.
As announced by Fortnite Status on Twitter, both weapons can now be equipped with any skin in the game, giving players more flexibility in customizing their loadouts. Before this update, only specific Venom-themed skins could wield these high-damage weapons. However, the latest change allows all players to use them, regardless of their chosen skin.
This update is exclusive to the Symbiote Scythe and Symbiote Slasher, while other locked pickaxes remain restricted to their corresponding character skins. The update comes as part of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2: Lawless, launched on February 21, which introduces a heist-themed experience. Alongside this, Fortnite has added new pickaxes, such as Sub Zero’s Battle Axes and the Titrationator, expanding the melee weapon arsenal. While the Symbiote weapons themselves aren’t new, their broader accessibility enhances gameplay for fans of symbiote-powered combat.
Venom’s Fortnite Legacy
Venom first appeared in Chapter 2 Season 4 as part of Fortnite’s Marvel crossover event, which also introduced heroes and villains like Wolverine and Doctor Doom. The Symbiote Slasher debuted alongside Venom, while the Symbiote Scythe was later introduced in Chapter 2 Season 8, which also featured Carnage and his Symbiote Slam and Health Leeching abilities.
By making these high-powered melee weapons universally available, Fortnite continues to enhance its customization options and combat variety, allowing all players to unleash symbiote-fueled attacks in battle.
