PlayStation 5 users recently received a firmware update (version 24.06-10.00.00), but numerous reports have surfaced regarding technical issues while playing “Final Fantasy 16”. Players have encountered problems such as game crashes during save loads and fast travel. One particularly unusual bug, shared by a Reddit user, involved a wave of black squares approaching the player and obscuring much of the screen.
The official “Final Fantasy 16” account addressed these issues in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where Square Enix stated it is collaborating with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) to investigate the cause of the problems. The company also urged players to remain patient as they work toward a solution.
As of now, Sony has not commented on the situation. Meanwhile, players have reported encountering similar bugs in other games, including the “Resident Evil 4” remake. IGN has also highlighted that titles such as “Star Wars Outlaws”, “Death Stranding”, and “No Man’s Sky” have experienced issues following the firmware update.
