YouTube is currently experimenting with an integration of Google Gemini to assist creators in brainstorming video ideas, titles, and thumbnails. This new feature, called Brainstorm with Gemini, was announced in a video posted on YouTube’s Creator Insider channel.

A YouTube spokesperson informed the tech magazine TechCrunch that this feature is being tested with a select group of creators as part of a limited experiment. YouTube plans to gather feedback from these creators before deciding on a broader rollout.

This tool could potentially give YouTube a competitive advantage over other social media video platforms by offering unique resources that these competitors lack. Furthermore, integrating Google’s AI into YouTube encourages creators to utilize its AI tools rather than turning to other popular platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Brainstorm with Gemini builds on a previous AI-powered content inspiration tool that YouTube began testing in May. This earlier tool provided creators with video topic ideas based on their audience’s interests and generated outlines of talking points to facilitate the content creation process.

According to the spokesperson, creators involved in the current experiment can use YouTube Studio to type a video idea into the search bar and choose between the inspiration tool and the Brainstorm with Gemini feature. While the inspiration tool already helps creators develop video ideas, YouTube aims to assess whether the Gemini integration offers additional value in content brainstorming.

As platforms like TikTok and Instagram focus on using generative AI to create digital avatars for creators, YouTube is leveraging the technology to enhance content creation.
