Elon Musk’s AI venture, xAI, has introduced its latest language models, Grok-2 and Grok-2 Mini. These models are now accessible to X Premium and Premium+ subscribers. Claiming significant advancements over the previous Grok-1.5, xAI positions Grok-2 as a cutting-edge AI capable of superior chat, coding, and reasoning abilities.
Interestingly, Grok-2 incorporates image generation capabilities, though this feature is powered by a third-party model from Black Forest Labs, known as Flux.1. While Grok-2 has demonstrated strong performance in benchmarks against competitors like GPT-4 Turbo, concerns have been raised about the lack of safety guardrails in Flux.1’s image generation capabilities.
The release of Grok-2 coincides with a redesigned Grok AI interface, offering enhanced user experience and additional features. The models are available through the X app, requiring users to update to the latest version.
While Grok-2 Mini is a smaller, faster version of the main model, both are designed to provide advanced AI capabilities to X Premium subscribers.
