Keeping up with the countless songs and trends on TikTok can be a challenge. However, TikTok is making it easier with a new feature called “Sound Search.” This tool lets users hum, sing, or play a song, and the platform will identify the tune and display videos that use it, according to TechCrunch.
This feature distinguishes itself from YouTube, which allows similar song searches but does not show videos that feature the song. It’s also more advanced than Shazam, which requires playing the actual song for identification rather than humming a few bars.
TikTok’s Sound Search tends to work better with songs that are popular on the app. However, there are instances where singing the lyrics might bring up videos related to the topic or word mentioned rather than the song itself. To access Sound Search, users can go to the search bar, click the microphone, and select Sound Search. Currently, this feature is available only to a small group of users in select areas.
