PlayStation 5 consoles were being refreshed by the company, only to add a few minor changes. Reports from an Australian publication stated that the restocked PS5 consoles had a different model number from the original PS5. The notable changes found are that the consoles are 300grams lighter than the original model and have a different base stand. It has not been found what has caused the weight to come down.
PlayStation 5 was launched by Sony last November. It has become the company’s fastest-selling console. The new model of PS5 has the model number- CFI-1102A, while the original PS5 had the model number CFI-1000. It was reported by Press Start which is an Australian publication. The difference in the base stand is that it uses a different type of screw in it and a new clamp design. The screw does not require a screwdriver to attach or remove as it can be done by hand.
Press Start notes that Australia is the first country to get the new refreshed model of PS5. But a Twitter user tweeted that the new console is available in the US as well. The user has also shared an image of the new base stand from which we get a clear picture of the difference between the original and new model.
