MediaTek is a known name to smartphone manufacturers. It has recently launched two new chips which will be added to its Helio-G series. The Helio G96 and G88 are not the exact upgraded versions of the earlier models- G95 and G85 but are slightly better than the earlier ones.

Mediatek Helio G96 SoC- It has a pair of Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05GHz and six A55 cores. A downgraded version from that of G95 is used as the GPU- Mali G57 MC2. It enhances the user experience with 120Hz displays with up to Full HD+ resolution. It works both for LCD and OLED. The camera resolution is also maximized with support for up to 108MP. The video quality is still capped at 4K at 30 FPS. It also has upgraded storage of UFS 2.2 and a faster LTE and also supports Bluetooth v5.2.

MediaTek Helio G88 SoC- It is very similar to the earlier model-G85. The upgrades include support for a 90Hz display at up to 1080+ resolution. It will also support a 64MP camera. New camera processing tricks include 3DNR and MFNR noise reduction in the hardware.

Both Helio G96 and G88 have an upgraded HyperEngine 2.0 Lite and support for dual SIM operation with VoLTE.
