On Tuesday, iRobot unveiled its most advanced and expensive robot vacuum to date: the Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot + AutoWash Dock. This new model, priced at $1,399, automates the washing and drying of its mopping pad, a task that previously had to be done manually on earlier combo vacuums. However, given the high cost, many customers may prefer to wait for this feature to become available on more affordable models.
Designed to make cleaning even more effortless, the Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot features a dock made of premium antimicrobial materials. This dock can empty dirt into an enclosed bag, refill the mopping solution tank, and clean itself after each pad wash. Users can also manually initiate self-cleaning, and the companion app will send reminders for standard maintenance or deeper cleaning.
The vacuum can store dirt and debris for up to 60 days before needing to be emptied, and the mopping pad and self-cleaning tank can hold water for up to seven days. The Combo 10 Max is designed to transition seamlessly between vacuuming carpets and mopping floors, automatically increasing suction power on carpets and providing consistent pressure and deeper scrubbing on hard floors.
Additionally, the vacuum retracts its mopping system when it reaches carpets, lifting the mop pad to keep carpets dry. It can vacuum and mop simultaneously on hard floors, and a new camera feature allows it to visually detect dirt on the floor, making it more efficient in cleaning the dirtiest spots.
The Combo 10 Max can map homes seven times faster than previous models, automatically labeling each room type. Its software uses past cleaning information to predict and optimize each room’s cleanliness. The robot is compatible with Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant, and is expected to be Matter-enabled by the end of 2024, ensuring broad smart home integration. It also includes iRobot’s Pet Owner Official Promise (P.O.O.P.), offering a free replacement if the robot encounters pet waste.
Available for pre-order in the US and Canada now on iRobot’s website, the Roomba Combo 10 Max will also be available in Europe in the coming months. Despite its impressive features, the $1,399 price tag may make it accessible only to high-end consumers.
