Humble Games has reportedly laid off all 36 of its employees. Former staff members shared news of the layoffs on social media. Owned by media conglomerate Ziff Davis, which also owns IGN, Eurogamer, and GamesIndustry.biz, Humble Games confirmed a company “restructure” in a LinkedIn post but did not specify the number of job losses.
A PR representative for Humble Games confirmed to Engadget that the company would not be shutting down due to the restructuring. He assured that ongoing and upcoming projects would still be supported and published by the studio.
The layoffs at Humble Bundle are part of a larger trend of job cuts across the gaming industry, which saw significant reductions last year and continues into 2024. Emilee Kieffer, a former lead quality assurance analyst with Humble Games, commented on LinkedIn, “The games industry is volatile, inundated by those seeking exponential growth at the expense of creating great games with great teams.”

Humble Games has published nearly 50 video games, including notable titles like Slay the Spire, Unpacking, Wandersong, and Coral Island. Upcoming releases include Never Alone 2, which explores the mythology and stories of the indigenous Iñupiat people in Alaska.
Humble’s statement noted, “This decision was not made lightly; it involved much deliberation and careful thought, with the goal of ensuring the stability and support of our developers and ongoing projects.”
This restructuring does not affect the charity storefront Humble Bundle, which is also part of Ziff Davis. We have reached out to Ziff Davis and Humble Games for further information and will update as necessary.
