Google has confirmed through a teaser video that its upcoming smartphone lineup includes a new foldable model. Dubbed the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google describes it as a “foldable phone built for the Gemini era” in its promotional tweet, highlighting its integration with the company’s generative AI chatbot. The foldable shares a prominent camera bump with the non-foldable Pixel 9 Pro, featuring vertically arranged lenses near one side, thus not occupying the entire width of the folded device.

Although Google has yet to officially unveil the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, a previous leak from Android Authority has already disclosed many details about the new Pixel 9 models. Additionally, Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) uploaded images of the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold to its archives. Some photos showcase the unfolded 9 Pro Fold, revealing Google’s relocation of the selfie camera to the inner screen for a broader field of view. They also show a reduced crease on the foldable display, which measures approximately 10 inches.

The NCC leak also indicated that the upcoming devices require larger chargers, with generally faster charging rates than previous models, although the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has the slowest rate among them. These details are expected to be confirmed at Google’s next “Made by Google” event on August 13, where the new smartphones will be officially launched.
