Many ways technology leaks make themselves public. Often it happens through supply chain images making its way to social media, or retailers who accidentally reveal information a bit too early. Those retailers are usually specific to one kind of gadget, like a phone shop, and not Argos – a shop that sells just about everything. But here we are, DJI’s Mavic 2 Pro Drone and Mavic 2 Zoom just leaked, and it’s all thanks to an early images included in the Argos catalogue.

The Argos catalogue is bound to be planned out months in advance so this sort of link shouldn’t really happen. The culprit is likely DJI itself, which had planned a press conference on 18th July so it could announce all of its new products. That press conference then got delayed, supposedly so the company could ensure its products were up to scratch. a DJI spokesperson confirmed is that Argos got its information ahead of time, ready to publish following the initial announcement. It seems like someone forgot to pass on the memo telling editors to pull all references to the Mavic 2s after the conference was postponed.
The listing claims that the Pro 2 can stream live HD video, 8km transmission, a max speed of 20m/s, 31 minute maximum flight time, and has “omni-directional obstacle sensing” to prevent mid-air collisions. Sadly there’s no pricing information, with the catalogue directing customers to the Argos website for more information. No word on when the drones will end up being announced. but IFA starts in a month and that seems like the most logical place.
