Amazon’s Chief Executive Officer, Andy Jassy, has indicated that the increasing use of generative AI within the company may significantly reshape the nature of its workforce in the coming years.

In an internal communication, Jassy shared that as Amazon integrates more AI-driven tools into its operations, some roles currently held by corporate employees may no longer be required. He emphasized that while some job functions may be reduced, new types of roles will also emerge, creating a shift in the skills and responsibilities needed.

“We anticipate a future where fewer people will be needed for certain existing roles, but there will be a demand for talent in new areas that support our evolving work models,” Jassy noted.

However, he clarified that it is currently difficult to predict the exact scale of this workforce change.

This development aligns with broader global trends around AI adoption. A recent international survey revealed that nearly 40% of employers are already considering reducing roles that can be automated using artificial intelligence technologies. This points to a growing reliance on AI for routine and process-driven tasks, especially in corporate and administrative sectors.

Amazon has been aggressively expanding its investment in AI across its retail, logistics, and cloud computing businesses, viewing it as a critical pillar of future growth.
