YouTube reportedly developing a kids version of the site. This version will be safe for kids under 10 years old. The Information cites multiple sources and says that the site is seeking video producers willing to create child-oriented content. According to the report, the site would offer content that will not have videos and comments not intended to be seen by children. In other words parents can blindly trust the site, all they have to do is to have a special app that will give access to only kid-safe videos.
For kids, YouTube already has a “safety” mode for filtering adult content and EDU version for educational videos. Although these services exist, both contain advertising not safe for kids. So a completely kids safe version will be welcomed by parents, however there is no information on when exactly will it launch.
