Apple is reportedly going to announce a cheaper 8GB variant of iPhone 5c today. The device which currently has 16GB variant is not doing well in terms of sale and are being discontinued everywhere including in India. An internal document of the German carrier O2, that has been leaked says that Apple will be launching an 8GB version of iPhone 5c. The trimmed down device will retail for 60 euros (around Rs.5,000) less than the 16GB model.

Apart from this leaked document, Engadget has also received an image confirming the existence of the 8GB variant. Although the leak came out in Germany, we expect the device to launch globally. In India the iPhone 5c is selling at around Rs.38,000, so if we reduce Rs.5000, is it still going to be welcomed in the market?
