Vine is not planning to restrict itself to just sharing six-second videos, but something more. The Twitter owned service has launched a new messaging feature that lets you reach out to friends through either videos or text messages. This new feature will allow you to privately send Vine videos and text messages to your friends. You can even send videos to anyone in your address book, even if they aren’t on Vine.
To create Vine messages, select the new “Messages” option in the navigation menu, record a video and send it to your friends. You can send a message to multiple people. The app is not very sophisticated at this stage, so each conversation is one-to-one; which means that if you want to send a video to eight friends, you will start eight separate conversations. The messages inbox has two sections: Friends (people you know) and Other (people outside your network). If you want to receive messages only from the people you follow or know, you can turn off your Other inbox in Settings. The updated app is now available for Android and iOS, but there’s no word on a corresponding Windows Phone update.
