Twitter profile redesign looks like Facebook

Twitter has announced that it has redesigned the profile pages. The new design looks a lot like Facebook. The announcement blog says that the redesign is available only to a small group of users for now, but will be rolled out globally in the coming weeks. Anyone new to Twitter, will start in with the new profile.

The new design comes with larger background images and more prominent profile pictures. Like Facebook both the user’s photos and friends are aligned in a tile layout on the lower left. The main features of the new layout include:

  • Best Tweets: Tweets that have received more engagement will appear slightly larger, so your best content is easy to find.
  • Pinned Tweet: Pin one of your Tweets to the top of your page, so it’s easy for your followers to see what you’re all about.
  • Filtered Tweets: Now you can choose which timeline to view when checking out other profiles. Select from these options: Tweets, Tweets with photos/videos, or Tweets and replies.
