At Re/code’s Code Conference, Microsoft showed off its upcoming real-time translation for Skype. The service called as Skype Translator, translates your real-time conversation into other languages. When you speak to someone who speaks in a different language; the service adds subtitle for the other person’s translations at the bottom of the screen. But the translation is not immediate and you’ll need to wait until the other person is done speaking for the translations. The company demoed near real-time audio translation from English to German and vice versa, at the conference. Microsoft has shown similar demonstrations a couple years ago, but this time the company has a time frame. Microsoft says that, “Skype Translator first will be available as a Windows 8 beta app before the end of 2014.”
