Samsung is apparently working on the next generation of its Gear S smartwatch, tentatively known as the Gear S3, and has partnered with luxury brand de Grisogono to create a super luxurious version for launch at a later date. Samsung already works with de Grisogono on a special diamond encrusted version of the Gear S2, and news of the continued collaboration comes from the Korea Herald.
Samsung hasn’t officially announced the Gear S3, or its extended relationship with de Grisogono, so although it all sounds possible, the news stays as an unofficial rumor for now. The Gear S3, is also a mystery, with this being the first main discussion about such a device. Its launch seems inevitable though, given the Gear S2’s warm welcome.
The early versions had some problems, but there’s no denying it’s one of the most attractive, functional, and intuitives smartwatches we’ve seen. Navigating the menus with a twist of the bezel seems almost too simple, and it’s surprising the system hadn’t been used before, given how superbly it works.
There are no details about the Gear S3’s specification or features, but it’s potentially going to be launched at this year’s IFA technology show in Berlin during September, a year on from Gear S2. The luxury de Grisogono Gear S3 isn’t expected to be shown though, and may not be ready before the Basel world watch show in March 2017.
