We heard a few news from different media about Instagram desktop feature development, and now we are able to see and heard from few social media experts that, Instagram is going to launch the capability to publish feed posts from the desktop version of the app. The first live test of these features are started testing to avail with a small set of users.
We are able to see from one of the tweets from social media expert Matt Navarra, as mentioned, “some users are now seeing the desktop posting “+” icon in the top bar of instagram.com”. When clicked, that then enables users to upload images or videos directly from their PC hard drive.
The feature also allows users to access all the regular, in-app options for editing feed posts, including image formatting tools, filters, features, etc.
The option doesn’t allow Stories or Reels uploads at this stage, but additional tests have shown that IGTV uploads are also in the works, which likely suggests that full posting functionality is coming in the near future.
This upload option from the desktop could be a big help for social media managers who are looking to streamline their workflow more easily.
Instagram says that this is a small test for now, with a view to further expansion soon.
