Facebook has announced a new programming language called Hack. The new language operates seamlessly with PHP and has been developed for the HHVM platform. Facebook says that, “Hack reconciles the fast development cycle of PHP with the discipline provided by static typing, while adding many features commonly found in other modern programming languages…..We believe that it offers the best of both dynamically typed and statically typed languages, and that it will be valuable to projects of all sizes.”
This means that Hack is now the official language running the site, which in turn means a faster and more reliable site. Facebook is holding Hack Developer Day on the Facebook campus in Menlo Park to introduce the language. But if you are really impatient head over to Facebook’s Engineering blog to find more details.
