Cisco Unveils AI-Optimized Network Solutions, Powered by Its Own Language Model

Cisco Systems, a global leader in networking technology, has unveiled a new generation of AI-optimized hardware and software aimed at transforming how organizations manage complex networks. The announcement was made during Cisco Live 2025, the company’s annual flagship event held this week in San Diego, USA.

AI-Ready Hardware for Modern Enterprises

The latest lineup includes upgraded routers and switches designed for AI-heavy environments such as large campuses, industrial setups, and remote offices. Cisco’s new Secure Router series (models 8100 through 8500) promises three times the data throughput compared to their previous models, ensuring fast and secure performance even under heavy workloads.

On the LAN front, Cisco has enhanced its Catalyst switch series with models 9350 and 9610, delivering up to 51.2 Tbps throughput, ultra-low latency below 5 microseconds, and quantum-resistant encryption. These features are crucial for supporting the performance needs of AI applications in sensitive or mission-critical sectors.

In addition, Cisco introduced the Meraki 9179F Wi-Fi access point and ruggedized switches for industrial AI use cases, incorporating Ultra-Reliable Wireless Backhaul (URWB)—a wireless alternative to fiber-optic connectivity. These systems enable flexible deployments in factories, logistics hubs, and field operations.

Deep Network Model: Cisco’s AI Brain for Network Management

At the heart of this AI-driven push is Cisco’s proprietary large language model (LLM), called the Deep Network Model. Trained on decades of Cisco technical data including expert-level certifications and official coursework the model enables several advanced network automation capabilities.

One such feature is the Cisco AI Assistant, a natural language interface that can identify network issues, analyze root causes, and automate complex workflows. Cisco claims this assistant can cut troubleshooting time from hours to seconds, a significant advantage for IT teams all over managing large infrastructures.

Another innovative tool is AI Canvas, a collaborative platform that bridges security teams, network administrators, and DevOps professionals. The software helps visualize, plan, and secure networks using real-time AI insights. Selected customers will begin testing this solution in late 2025.

Introducing AgenticOps: Beyond DevOps

Cisco is also championing a new AI-first operations methodology called AgenticOps. This emerging concept goes beyond traditional DevOps by enabling AI agents to autonomously code, test, refine, and deploy applications in real time. These agents integrate deeply with enterprise resources, turning telemetry data and automation into machine-speed decisions while still keeping human teams in control.

AgenticOps encompasses the entire lifecycle of AI application development, from initial prompts to continuous model retraining, offering a glimpse into the future of enterprise software engineering. Similar developments are also being explored by AI-forward startups such as AutoGPT, CrewAI, LangGraph, and OpenDevin.
