Amazon Web Services vice president has confirmed that the group has shut down the cloud infrastructure linked to the Israeli firm NSO. This was after a report about the hacking by the spyware of NSO came out.

The Israeli firm’s spyware Pegasus was reportedly used to hack the smartphones of various journalists and human rights activists among others. There are claims that the spyware hacked almost 1000 people from different countries of the world. WhatsApp has sent messages to people whom they suspect to be attacked by the spyware. The hacking has caused a huge stir in many fields including politics.

However, NSO has denied the claims and argued that they only sell the spyware to governments. Amazon is yet to clarify whether the closed accounts and infrastructure were directly linked to the firm.
