Pearson+ app-based subscription service launched for digital textbooks

Pearson, the leading textbook publisher in the US, is launching an app-based subscription for digital textbooks. This service will be called Pearson+ and the users can avail the service through the Pearson+ app. It will be initially available in the US campuses and soon be extended for a global launch. The Pearson+ app will have both mobile and desktop versions with two different plans and benefits. The publisher says that it will bring in a change in access to textbooks.

The service was announced last week. The subscription plan will require a monthly payment charged similar to the OTT platforms. There are two plans- Single and Multi, the former with a monthly charge of $9.99 and the latter with a charge of $14.99. the Single Tier will allow access to a single digital textbook while the Multi-Tier will permit access to the full library.

The Pearson+ app will give access to all the books and employs features like flashcards, notetaking capability, practice questions, and tutoring discounts. It will also have an audio player for audio versions and offline access. The app allows customizations of fonts and backgrounds. It comes with 24/7 live student support. It is now available on the App Store and Google Play.

With this app, the carbon footprint can be reduced by 20% than the traditional textbooks. More features are set to be rolled out on the app in the future.
