Facebook owned Instagram has just released a refresh for its iOS app. The version 5.0.11 of Instagram app for iOS has removed the auto-sharing of activities to Facebook. The update says “Instagram likes and activity will no longer be shared on Facebook”. This means that users will only be able to share images deliberately to Facebook, using the in-app share button. There is no clarity on why exactly Facebook has made this change. One reason could be the app’s activities are messing up Facebook’s Timeline or a similar approach as seen in removing messaging from its iOS and Android apps and demanding users to use the standalone Facebook Messenger app instead. Whatever be the reason, now there will be less Instagram activities on Facebook. Currently, the update has appeared only for iOS and there is no mention in the changelog for the Android app.
