HTC has reportedly hired the former head of marketing at Samsung, Paul Golden. Bloomberg cites people familiar with the matter to report that Golden has been hired on a three-month contract and his long-term engagement with the company hasn’t been finalized. He is said to be reporting directly to Chairman Cher Wang.
Golden’s LinkedIn page says that he worked for Samsung between 2008 and 2012, where he “created and launched the highly successful Galaxy brand.” His current employer is listed as Brand Slam, a marketing consultancy.
HTC has suffered three straight quarters of operating losses and declines in sales and market share. To overcome this, the company is looking over its marketing strategy and has hired actor Gary Oldman and Robert Downey Jr. as a part of this initiative. Now it is trying to turn its fortune, by taking advise from the man who was responsible in a way to drive it into losses, sound interesting!
