After years of anticipation, Xiaomi unveiled its inaugural electric car, the SU7, at an event in Beijing, China, led by CEO Lei Jun. Jun proudly hailed the SU7 as the culmination of Xiaomi’s meticulous craftsmanship over the past three years. Spanning 5 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and boasting a 3-meter wheelbase, the SU7 is positioned as a full-size, high-performance eco-tech sedan, aiming to marry elegance with functionality.

“We aimed to create the most attractive, user-friendly, and intelligent car priced under half a million yuan while maintaining top-notch quality. This is the dream car we’ve crafted for our customers,” Lei Jun remarked during the unveiling. “The SU7 is a full-size, high-performance eco-tech sedan, measuring 5 meters in length, 2 meters in width, with a 3-meter wheelbase,” he added.

Discussing pricing, the standard version of the car, as disclosed by Lei Jun, retails for 215,900 yuan (approximately Rs 24 lakh) in China. Additionally, the Pro and Max versions of the car will be priced at 245,900 and 299,900 yuan respectively.

Regarding its offerings, the Xiaomi SU7 has been introduced in nine colors. While Xiaomi showcased three color options of the car during the MWC held in Barcelona last month, six more options have been added now.

The SU7 comes equipped with a 220kW rear-wheel drive motor. Particularly noteworthy is the E-motor HyperEngine V8s, boasting a maximum motor speed of 27,200 rpm, delivering a robust 425kW output and a peak torque of 635Nm. Xiaomi had previously touted this as setting a global record for E-motors, propelling the car from 0-100kmph in just 5.3 seconds.

Meanwhile, the fastest iteration of the car claims to accelerate from zero to a hundred kilometers per hour in a mere 2.78 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 265 kilometers per hour. The car is also equipped with dual motors packing 637 horsepower and 838 newton meters of turbo power. Additionally, the SU7 is built on an 800-volt architecture, akin to Tesla’s Cybertruck.

The design features of Xiaomi’s SU7 are equally impressive, with sleek water drop headlights, halo tail lights, and stylish hidden door handles. Inside, a futuristic cockpit adorned with multiple screens and cutting-edge features awaits. The car operates on Xiaomi’s Hyper OS, seamlessly connecting with the company’s other devices such as phones and tablets.
