Reports are coming from various media reveals that Tesla is working on a smaller, smarter, cheaper or rather a compact hatchback that starts at $25,000. As we know that, there are many products in the pipeline like popular Tesla Cybertruck, next-gen Roadster, and Tesla Semi. But we are unclear about the launch and market availability.

CEO Elon Musk has made it clear earlier that, having a future ready cost effective Tesla compact car is a good idea. In fact, the company has already gone so far as to try to recruit folks in China to design the car. More specifically, the car will be designed and produced in China, but sold across the globe.

Recent report on Autocar sheds some new light on the upcoming “cheap” Tesla. The report says that the EV competition get harder because the Volkswagen ID.3, Nissan LEAF, and Kia Niro EV are getting in to the market with less price and better feature. If Tesla wanted to keep the title as the world’s leading electric vehicle brand in the face of fierce competition from established manufacturers, then the company should be competition ready.

Report says the Tesla hatchback will go on sale in 2023. It will be the cheapest car Tesla has ever produced.
