Ikea’s new Sonos speaker might feature swappable shades

The Ikea Symfonisk lamp is a great way to incorporate a Sonos speaker into your area without it looking out of place. But what if you want to make it a little more interesting? In the future, you might have that choice in the form of swappable hues.

A new version of Symfonisk appears to be on the way, according to a Reddit post. A separate Symfonisk lampshade was spotted at their local Ikea, according to an Ikea customer. Customers will be able to choose their own glass or fabric cover for the second-generation speaker, according to a document (archived version) on the company’s website.

According to the document, which is in Portuguese, white and black alternatives would be offered. The glass cover is €30 ($35) and the textile cover is €20 (roughly $24). The WiFi speaker is housed in a base that costs €129 (about $152). Other Symfonisk goods are listed in the document, including the picture frame speaker Ikea announced in June.

Sonos mentioned that they are excited about the things they are developing together and that they will share more information shortly. More information, including availability, is scheduled to be released soon. Given that this document is available on the Ikea website, these new Symfonisk lamps may not be available for long.
