One thing that motorcycle enthusiasts surely love is the sound of their vehicles. Some even consider the sound while buying a new motorcycle. This is where electric vehicles let us down. The internal combustion engine’s days have been numbered. A lot of motorcycles’ features realized by sound and vibrations are brought in by different internal combustion engines. These features will lose its rigour once it is replaced by the futuristic hum of the electric motor. This is too much to handle for some motorcycle enthusiasts.

For tackling this problem, Yamaha is developing a technology that aims to add the sound feature to electric two-wheelers of tomorrow. The company is also known for its musical instruments along with its popular motorbikes. So, it is planning to revolutionize the field of electric motorcycles by adding to them good sound. Yamaha Motor Co. has partnered with Yamaha Corp. to craft different sounds to replicate the sound of an internal combustion engine for use on EVs.

The company has already formed a division to take up this project completely. The team will be called Alive. The sound engineers accept that sound is a crucial element of the driving experience. They claim that the sound will give the drivers a sense of speed. Hideo Fujita who is a team member of the project states that the sounds they produce will be similar to the engine sounds that we have heard of. He claims that “Even one that sounds like Star Wars is possible.”
