Yahoo launches mobile-first native ads

Yahoo has launched image-rich native ads that are designed to be mobile-first. The company says that these ads are seamlessly integrated with the content and targeted to the right consumer for better results. The ads will clearly be marked as sponsored

The new ads are available through Yahoo Gemini, the company’s unified marketplace for advertisers for mobile search and native advertising. The new ads will appear within users’ personalized content streams, article pages and image galleries across Yahoo mobile and desktop products. The mobile ads will include larger, richer graphics and photos for brand storytelling, combined with the performance brands need. On tapping the ads, the users can visit the brand’s site directly or view a full-screen visual for better impact. The company claims that top advertisers including Netflix are already using these new ad formats.

The company’s comments on this new ad format:

When advertising is a seamless part of the stories, photos and videos around it, it enhances the way people discover and share, while increasing engagement, recall, intent and favorability for advertisers. We’re excited to move toward a new mobile experience that brings together engaging content and even richer advertising.
