Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi will reportedly launch two smartphones in India next month. Instead of having its own retail store in India, Xiaomi has partnered with Flipkart for selling its product in the country. The smartphone maker will import its devices, which will then be exclusively sold through Flipkart.
According to the reports, Xiaomi India will launch two smartphones to start off and they are Redmi and Mi3. The Redmi is an entry-level smartphone with a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, a 1.5GHz MediaTek 6589 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot. It has an 8-megapixel rear, 1.3-megapixel front-facing and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It is expected to be priced at around Rs.8,000.
On the other hand, the Mi3 is the company’s flagship device which boasts a 5-inch 1080p IPS display, a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. It has 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-flash, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Wi-Fi Direct and a huge 3,050mAh battery. It is expected to be priced at around Rs.15,000.
Xiaomi has hired co-founder of Jabong Manu Kumar Jain, to head its operations in India, earlier this month. The company is planning to enter 10 new markets including India this year. Xiaomi sold 18.7 million smartphones last year and is targeting to sell 100 million smartphones next year.
