Xiaomi has managed to take lead in being the top smartphone brand beating Samsung and Apple as per the reports of the month of June 2021, according to Counterpoint. This is the first time that Xiaomi is reaching this spot. A total of 17.1% global market share is owned by Xiaomi smartphones while Samsung’s and Apple’s shares reached 15.7% and 14.3%.
In the entire second quarter reports, Samsung has managed to retain its top position and Xiaomi is in the second position. Xiaomi started its operations in 2010. And still has managed to get into top spots, thanks to its budget-friendly smartphones. The US sanctions issues faced by Huawei have also acted in favour of Xiaomi. Honor and Huawei are facing several issues and their gaps are successfully filled in by Xiaomi. Samsung has also been facing problems due to the pandemic in Vietnam. Once the situation straightens out, Samsung is expected to bounce back to the top spot normally.
Xiaomi is in the top spot in terms of smartphones sales and not total revenue. It has to be noted that Xiaomi phones are affordable and Samsung and Apple are getting higher profits than Xiaomi. Both Samsung and Apple have witnessed a record increase in their sales and revenue.
