With Windows 11 Microsoft is adding some updates to its built-in apps. Microsoft has rolled out some new updates to the Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. These are considerably minor updates in the Snipping Tool, Calculator, Mail, and Calendar apps. But are designed to go with the visual style in Windows 11.

Microsoft has replaced the classic Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch apps in Windows 11. A new Snipping Tool app that comes with the features of the two earlier apps has been rolled out. The keyboard shortcut Win + Shift + S can be used to take a screenshot in Windows 11, while it will also activate the snipping menu with different options for choosing what content to capture. After taking a screenshot, the Snipping Tool apps will enable the user to edit with options for cropping and annotations. The app will also have a dark mode to match with the Windows 11 theme.

Updates to Mail and Calendar apps in Windows 11 have also been provided to match the visual style of Windows 11. The rounded corners have been re-introduced in Windows 11. These app windows will have rounded corners as clarified by Microsoft. The calculator app will also feature some minor updates. It will be able to add a separate theme to the one that’s used by the user for the rest of Windows. Microsoft is also allowing developers to contribute to the calculator’s improvements by rewriting it in C#.

The testers of Windows 11 are now able to check out the one-to-one and group audio and video calls in Microsoft Teams. Screen sharing has also been enabled just like in the Microsoft Teams app.

Dave Grochoki who is the senior program manager lead for Windows inbox apps has published a blog in which he clarifies that this will be the first set of updates and more updates will follow as Windows 11 is set for its official release in October.
