Twitter announced that it will begin its test for attaching labels for automated accounts/bot accounts. Twitter clarified in its FAQ that automated accounts are like the ones that include bots that will help the users in finding vaccine appointments and disaster early warning systems. Twitter added that when these labels are attached, people will know that they are automated accounts. This will help in better comprehension of its purpose when users interact with it.

The test for the label will be initially rolled out to a small number of developers. They will be invited to be able to add the labels to the accounts. The accounts that took up the test of labels will feature an “Automated” label on the profile page and on tweets. Twitter is planning to roll out this feature to every developer by the end of this year.

Twitter had originally planned a July timeframe for this feature. The test is a bit late compared to that time frame. The social media platform is also working on another label to memorialize people who have died. Reports claim that this feature will also be available by the end of this year.
